Οι Χρυσές Σφαίρες του 2024 δόθηκαν το βράδυ της Κυριακής, με τις ταινίες Oppenheimer, Barbie, Poor Things και Anatomy of a Fall μεταξύ των ταινιών να κερδίζουν πολλά βραβεία.
Ο Οπενχάιμερ ανακηρύχθηκε καλύτερος σκηνοθέτης, δράμα, με τον Κρίστοφερ Νόλαν να παίρνει το βραβείο σκηνοθεσίας για τη δουλειά του στην ταινία. Το Poor Things κέρδισε την Υδρόγειο Σφαίρα καλύτερης ταινίας, μιούζικαλ ή κωμωδίας. Το Anatomy of a Fall κέρδισε την ταινία για την καλύτερη μη αγγλόφωνη ταινία, ενώ το The Boy and the Heron ονομάστηκε καλύτερη ταινία κινουμένων σχεδίων.
Από την πλευρά της τηλεόρασης, το Succession ονομάστηκε καλύτερη δραματική σειρά, ενώ το The Bear ονομάστηκε καλύτερη τηλεοπτική σειρά, μιούζικαλ ή κωμωδία.
Φέτος, οι Σφαίρες μοιράστηκαν σε νέες κατηγορίες αναγνωρίζοντας την stand-up κωμωδία και τα κινηματογραφικά και εισπρακτικά επιτεύγματα. Η Barbie κέρδισε το βραβείο για το καλύτερο κινηματογραφικό και box office επίτευγμα, του οποίου η κατηγορία περιελάμβανε οκτώ υποψηφιότητες που επιλέχθηκαν από ταινίες που πέτυχαν «συνολική εισπρακτική εισπράξη 150 εκατομμυρίων δολαρίων, εκ των οποίων τα 100 εκατομμύρια δολάρια πρέπει να προέρχονται από το εγχώριο box office των ΗΠΑ ή/και να αποκτήσουν ανάλογη τηλεθέαση ψηφιακής ροής αναγνωρισμένη από αξιόπιστες πηγές της βιομηχανίας», ανέφεραν οι Globes ανακοινώνοντας την κατηγορία.
Το βραβείο για την καλύτερη ερμηνεία στο stand-up comedy στην τηλεόραση περιελάμβανε έξι υποψήφιους κωμικούς που έδωσαν «παραδοσιακές παραστάσεις stand-up comedy τουλάχιστον 30 λεπτών, εκτός από ρόλους σε τηλεοπτικές σειρές, σειρές περιορισμένης διάρκειας, σειρές ανθολογίας ή κινηματογραφικές ταινίες που έγιναν για την τηλεόραση» σε «αναγνωρισμένη πλατφόρμα μέσων ενημέρωσης (οι μεμονωμένοι λογαριασμοί κοινωνικών μέσων δεν πληρούν τις προϋποθέσεις)». Ο παρουσιαστής του Past Globes Gervais πήρε αυτό το βραβείο για το Ricky Gervais: Armageddon.

Η Dick Clark Productions κατέχει τώρα και παράγει τα βραβεία Golden Globe. Η DCP ανήκει στην Penske Media Eldridge, μια κοινοπραξία μεταξύ της Penske Media Corporation και της Eldridge που κατέχει επίσης το The Hollywood Reporter.
Με τις Σφαίρες να μην εποπτεύονται πλέον από την HFPA, μια νέα, φυλετικά και εθνοτικά ποικιλόμορφη ομάδα ψηφοφόρων - αποτελούμενη από 300 δημοσιογράφους από όλο τον κόσμο, που εκπροσωπούν 76 χώρες - επέλεξε τους φετινούς υποψηφίους και νικητές.
Τον Νοέμβριο, οι Σφαίρες υπέγραψαν νέα συμφωνία μετάδοσης με το CBS αφού η ομάδα βραβείων τερμάτισε τη μακροχρόνια σχέση της με το NBC, το οποίο προβλήθηκε στις Χρυσές Σφαίρες του 2023, νωρίτερα φέτος.
